state of suspended animation that has endured
for a year. We are back, and are supplying
you with new photos and gig announcements.Stay
tuned for new music on the sounds page.
We promise not to be strangers, and keep
the site updated and interesting.

A video has been posted on the Sounds
page. The footage was shot on a cold night
in February of 2002. The back Forty Folk Festival
sponsored the gig at the Green Cedar Cafe
in Winkler, Manitoba. "The evening was a great
deal of fun," recalls Scott Bell, "Kevin Mackey
and Kerri Woelke from the band Gretchen played
during the intermission. We played two acoustic
sets that featured coffee house classics like
Ozzy Osbourne's Crazy Train, and the song
we're posting, 'It Is You?' The evening ended
with Derek serenading and then proposing to
Helena, so it was quite a memorable gig."

Recording
continues in Winnipeg as the band lays down
bed tracks. Warren and Scott are recording
the rhythm tracks first, creating a foundation
upon which the other band members can build.
Frank has recorded 'scratch' guitar and
vocal tracks that will serve as guides for
Jane and Derek when they make their contributions
to the songs. Warren is constantly updating
his kit and equipment, the latest being
an Ayotte snare drum. The band is eager
to arrange a live performance so that they
may debut some of the new songs that have
come out of the recording sessions.

The band is currently working on it's first
album in a studio that Warren has set up in
his house. Several songs are undergoing changes,
which is the blessing and curse of the experimentation
allowed by digital recording. "Some of
the songs just don't seem to sound like us
right now", observed Frank MacLean, chief
song writer of the Dingleberries. "I
am hoping we can capture the sound we create
when we play live." Followers of the
band can expect to hear familiar Dingleberries
songs, as well as a couple of tunes they may
not have heard the band play in a live setting.
The band intends to complete the album before
the year is out.
